The Polish foreign minister [Zbigniew Rau] said…migrant crisis on the European Union’s border with Belarus was a ‘hybrid war’ against countries on the eastern edge of NATO, including Poland and Lithuania.
He also said both countries “have recently come under multiple pressures resulting from a hybrid war against NATO’s eastern flank.”
Poland is determined to protect its eastern border with Belarus amid a migrant surge, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau has told a crowd of international decision makers gathered at a business conference in his country.
“We remain determined to protect our border with Belarus, which is also the border of the European Union,” he added.
Last week, Poland declared a state of emergency in parts of two regions along its border with Belarus.
The Polish-led Three Seas Initiative aims to boost infrastructure, energy and business ties among 12 countries between the Black, Baltic and Adriatic Seas.
The initiative brings together Poland, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
