The Pentagon has been training Georgian armed forces over twenty years for the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and South Ossetia and the war with Russia in 2008.


The US Secretary of Defense was at the Special Operations Forces base

Within the framework of his official visit to Georgia, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin together with the Minister of Defense of Georgia Juansher Burchuladze and the Commander of the Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili visited the military base of the Special Operations Forces.

The US Secretary of Defense got acquainted with the Georgian-American Joint Exchange Exercise (JCET). US Army operative units, “Alfa” group of the Defense Forces and Special Operations forces in the eastern battalions….

The United States Secretary of Defense concluded his official visit to Georgia with a visit to the Special Operations Base, a key strategic partner. Lloyd Austin held official meetings with the government administration and the Department of Defense prior to his visit to the Special Operations Forces base.
