It’s been remarked on this site before that Brazil and Senegal, which among other exercises participated in this summer’s U.S.-NATO Sea Breeze war games in the Black Sea, are being prepared for NATO partnerships. The other eighteen African nations listed below (excluding Morocco which is already a NATO partner) also appear to be groomed for the same. Note that Benin, Cameroon, Congo (Brazzaville), Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea (Conakry), Morocco, Senegal and Togo are former possessions of participant France; that Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau and Sao-Tome and Principe of participant Portugal; Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra Leone of participant Britain; Congo (Kinshasa) of participant Belgium; Equatorial Guinea of participant Spain.

NAVAF Joins Allies, Partners for Exercise Grand African NEMO
Sailors assigned to U.S. Naval Forces Africa (NAVAF) joined NATO Allies and partners for the French-led, Congolese hosted exercise Grand African Navy Exercise for Maritime Operations (NEMO) 2021 in Pointe-Noire, Congo, Nov. 2-7, 2021.
More than 40 ships and aircraft from 29 nations participated in the week-long exercise….
Additionally, Rear Adm. Benjamin Reynolds, Director of Maritime Headquarters, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Mark Schapiro, NAVAF Political Advisor, attended the Chief of Navy Symposium and VIP day following the conclusion of exercise Grand African Nemo.

The French Navy conducts three to four regional naval exercises annually as part of the African NEMO exercise series, which culminates in the major annual exercise Grand African NEMO. Starting in 2013, the exercise series trains on the collective efforts to establish maritime security and stability in the Gulf of Guinea.
Grand African NEMO 2021 participants included Angola, Belgium, Benin, Brazil, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Denmark, Equatorial Guinea, France, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Italy, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria, Portugal, Sao-Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Spain, Togo, United Kingdom, and the United States.

What is significant is the participation of U.S. nuclear-capable B-1 bombs, recently in the Black Sea. Otherwise, this is old hat. The U.S. and its NATO allies have been in Djibouti for 20 years, part of the post 9/11-NATO Article 5 GWOT. Thanks. Eastern Europe and the Caucasus don’t fit into the Western “anti-war” “paradigm” and will continue to be ignored; that is, when Belarus is not condemned. You wouldn’t believe the emails I get daily from nominal peace and anti-war outfits (unless you get the same sort of stuff): every kind of irrelevant topic that has positively nothing to do with war, militarism, weapons, nuclear arms….but not a word about the worst threat of a full-blown nuclear catastrophe that the world has ever witnessed.

I think a lot of the western anti war advocates are just controlled opposition. I feel the same about them as you do. It’s just theater. The only way I think to have a real anti war movement in western nations is to bring back conscription. The elite in charge won’t do that because they learned from the past and now use mercenaries.
