NATO Secretary General invites Irakli Garibashvili to the Madrid Summit

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg invites the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili to the Madrid Summit.

“I am writing to invite you to the NATO Summit that will be held in Madrid, Spain, from 28 to 30 June.

“Specifically, I would welcome your attendance at a special meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of Heads of State and Government with NATO partners in the afternoon of 29 June. I have also invited the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, the President of the Republic of Finland, the Prime Minister of Japan, the President of the Republic of Korea, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Prime Minister of Sweden, the President of the European Council, and the President of the European Commission to this meeting.

We are meeting at a pivotal time….Russia has shattered the peace in Europe. Global security…implications of …are being left beyond the Euro-Atlantic area. Russia and the other authoritarian powers are challenging the rules-based international order….

We should focus our discussion on global challenges and in particular China’s growing power and reach, and its consequences for our interests and security….
