The Senate vote was 89-10.
The House vote was 363-70.
It’s the highest-ever Pentagon budget in current dollars and the largest since World War II in constant dollars. Russian military spending for 2020 was an estimated $61.7 billion, less than 1/12 of next year’s U.S. defense spending.

It includes significant increases for initiatives intended to counter China and bolster Ukraine, as well as for more ships, jets and fighter planes than the Pentagon requested.
Lawmakers said the measure was necessary, pointing to rising threats from China and Russia and previewing a looming race over military technology.
This is not surprising. The Congress is just a rubber stamp for the Military/Health Industrial Complex. America has the best politicians money can buy.

I suppose it could be argued the *worst* money can buy. But we must remember, it’s the Citadel of Democracy. This is from the English writer Anthony Trollope’s 1875 novel The American Senator about a character fatally injured while riding a horse: “He might pull through yet,” said Mr. Hampton. Lord Rufford shook his head. Then Mr. Gotobed told a wonderful story of an American who had had his brains knocked almost out of his head and had sat in Congress afterwards.
