Western governments should be getting prepared for escalation from the Russian side. Michael Carpenter, the U.S. permanent envoy in the OSCE said so during the talks with Russian delegates.

Reuters reported that, citing the official on January 13.

“At the present time, we’re facing a crisis in European security. The drumbeat of war is sounding loud, and the rhetoric has gotten rather shrill,” Carpenter stated.

According to him, one needs to “take it very seriously”.
