Ambassador of Ukraine commented on the resignation of the Commander-in-Chief of the German Navy

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk welcomed the resignation of the commander of the German Navy, Vice Admiral Kai-Achim Schönbach, who had previously stated that Crimea would not return to Ukraine.

Schönbach, after talking about Crimea, said on Saturday evening that he had asked to be relieved of his duties, the head of the German Defense Ministry , Christina Lambrecht , accepted her resignation.

“We applaud Schönbach’s resignation,” Melnyk told German newspaper Welt, stressing that the move “seriously calls into question Germany’s international credibility and credibility, not only from a Ukrainian point of view.” According to Melnyk, Schönbach’s words “plunged the entire Ukrainian public into a deep shock.”
