US President’s letter to President Ilham Aliyev shows great importance of co-op with Azerbaijan

The US President’s congratulatory letter to the President of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the Novruz holiday is an expression of the great value attached to cooperation with Azerbaijan, political observer Elchin Mirzabeyli told Trend.

According to him, President Biden’s approach proves that the US appreciates Azerbaijan’s contribution to peace, cooperation, security and development, and that there is ample opportunity for Washington-Baku ties in vital areas.

“The fact that the US is interested in working with Azerbaijan indicates that the countries will reinforce interaction in different areas,” he stated.

The directions of Biden’s letter confirm the global acceptance of the realities created by Azerbaijan in the region….

He noted that over the past month, presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan had three telephone conversations and one meeting. Moreover, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held phone talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, President of Poland Andrzej Duda, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of France Emmanuel Macron, President of Moldova Maia Sandu, President of the Italian Council of Ministers Mario Draghi, President of the European Council Charles Michel, President of Romania Klaus Iohannis and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

In addition, President Ilham Aliyev received letters from the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, and President of France Emmanuel Macron expressing support for our country’s policy in the region.

Given the letter of US President Joe Biden and the importance paid to the development of mutual cooperation, it can be said without exaggeration that the role of our country in regional, subregional and global processes will continue to grow, and Azerbaijan will become a fulcrum…in the South Caucasus,” he said.

Aliyev relies on US support, unnoticeably blackmails in his ‘peace agenda’ with Armenia

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has thanked US President Joe Biden for congratulating him on the occasion of Nowruz, AzerTac reported.

In the respective letter, Aliyev listed all the achievements of three decades of US-Azerbaijan cooperation, and paid special attention to the energy sector.

Even in this letter, however, Aliyev could not resist the temptation to distort the facts and blackmail. First, Aliyev deliberately singled out one from the whole list of principles. In diplomatic interpretation, the Azerbaijani president reminded the US president of the Azerbaijani oil and natural gas reserves, linking it to Washington’s support to Baku’s position in the “peace agenda” with Armenia.

Given that the collective West ranks energy security issues far higher than the values of democracy and human rights proclaimed by it, Aliyev might have chosen the right emphasis. Otherwise, the same West would somehow react to the “natural gas blockade” which Azerbaijan has subjected the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to.
