The Minister of Defense held an introductory meeting with the head of the NATO Liaison Office

The Minister of Defense of Georgia hosted the new Head of the NATO Liaison Office. Juansher Burchuladze congratulated Alexander Vinikov on his appointment and wished him successful work.

At the meeting, the sides discussed NATO-Georgia relations, challenges and threats facing the country, the security environment in the region and current developments in Ukraine. Against this background, the sides stressed the importance of deepening NATO-Georgia cooperation in the field of defense, strengthening NATO’s role in the Black Sea region and modernizing the Georgian Defense Forces.

According to Juansher Burchuladze, the Georgian Defense Ministry continues to implement the existing mechanisms and formats of existing NATO-Georgia cooperation, which will strengthen the country’s defense capabilities and increase compatibility with NATO. It was noted at the meeting that Georgia, as a NATO aspirant country, is properly fulfilling its international obligations to the Alliance.
