Lela Chikovani hosted the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway and the Defense Attaché

The First Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia hosted the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, Helen Sand Andresen , and the newly appointed Defense Attaché. Lela Chikovani wished Vice-Colonel Bjorn Ole Geroudas success in his position of Defense Attaché to Georgia and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense.

Lela Chikovani thanked the Norwegian diplomats for their support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the country’s accession to Euro-Atlantic structures.

Speaking about the ongoing reforms in the Georgian Defense Forces, the Deputy Defense Minister focused on Norway’s active involvement in the implementation of the NATO-Georgia Essential Package (SNGP), leading Norwegian experts in the development of one of the leading initiatives, the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC). Lela Chikovani also emphasized the close bilateral cooperation between the Georgian National Guard and the Internal Guard of the Kingdom of Norway.

The main topic of conversation at the meeting was the developments in Ukraine. The sides once again condemned the Russian aggression and expressed their support and solidarity with Ukraine.

The Minister of Defense met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

The Minister of Defense of Georgia Juansher Burchuladze met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia Maria Christina Van Koldam . He introduced the new Defense Attaché of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia, Vice-Colonel Eric Van Wuren , to the Minister of Defense. Regional and global security issues were discussed at the meeting. Juansher Burchuladze noted that European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations are a priority of Georgia’s security policy. In this context, the application signed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, on Georgia’s accession to the European Union was mentioned.

The sides discussed the ongoing processes in Ukraine and drew a parallel with the recent history of Georgia….

The Minister of Defense also spoke with the representatives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands about the reforms implemented in the agency with the support of the Alliance member and friendly countries . In this regard, Juansher Burchuladze stressed the support of the Dutch in the initiatives provided by the NATO-Georgia Essential Package (SNGP)….The meeting also focused on the participation of Georgian and Dutch servicemen in military exercises.

The representatives of Georgia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands talked about the deepening of cooperation in the field of defense and the implementation of strategic level visits.
