Lela Chikovani met with her Lithuanian counterpart

First Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia Lela Chikovani is in the Republic of Lithuania. Lela Chikovani was hosted by her Lithuanian counterpart – Deputy Minister of National Defense Margiris Abukevicius at the Ministry of National Defense.

Colleagues discussed regional security challenges and Russia’s military action against Ukraine. The sides also discussed the expected results of the planned NATO summit in Madrid.

Margiris Abukevicius expressed the support of Lithuania [for] Georgia’s accession to NATO and the European Union. As he said at the meeting, Lithuania continues to support NATO’s open door policy, is ready to deepen bilateral cooperation with Georgia and strengthen Lithuania’s contribution to the initiatives provided for in the essential NATO-Georgia package….

Georgia [and] Lithuania have been cooperating in the field of defense for many years. Areas of bilateral cooperation include military exercises and education, cyber security , joint exercises in Georgia and Lithuania , as well as cooperation between the Land Forces, Special Operations Forces and military academies .
