Visit of the NATO Defense College delegation to the Defense Forces

Georgia is hosting a delegation of the NATO Defense College as part of the regional tour. Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, Commander of the Defense Forces of Georgia, welcomed the leaders of the college and high-ranking course participants to the Army Hall of the Ministry of Defense and drew attention to the importance of such visits. The representatives of the Ministry of Defense made presentations to high-ranking listeners on regional security issues and existing challenges, on the prospects of Georgia’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures and on the implemented reforms, on the development of defense policy and the process of transformation of the defense forces. Also, they reviewed the priorities of the military education system of Georgia.

Today, NATO College representatives visited the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) within the framework of a study visit, where JTEC commander, Colonel Davit Gagua hosted them and introduced the possibilities of the center. The purpose of the visit to Georgia is to familiarize the college students with the regional security environment, ongoing reforms in the field of defense of Georgia, and the prospects of the country’s integration into NATO.
