Jens Stoltenberg: Asia and the Indo-Pacific region are important for NATO

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg visited South Korea to strengthen the alliance’s relations with its allies in Asia.

“We need to strengthen the partnership between South Korea and NATO. Asia and the Indo-Pacific region are important for Europe and NATO,” Stoltenberg said.

The NATO Secretary General also noted that NATO member countries are affected by problems around the world and need to work more closely with partners to counter global threats and challenges, including threats from China.

According to the organization’s press service, Stoltenberg will meet with Foreign Minister Park Jin, National Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup and other high-ranking South Korean officials in Seoul. He is also expected to meet with the country’s president.

On January 30, Jens Stoltenberg will go to Japan, where he will meet Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and other officials.
