US Embassy in Tbilisi: Americans and Georgians “built” for long-term partnership

Americans and Georgians are “built for a long-term partnership” and the two nations look forward to the “next decades” of their cooperation, the United States Embassy in Tbilisi said on Thursday in a statement dedicated to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Embassy praised the “robust relationship” aimed at “developing and strengthening Georgia’s democratic institutions” and “bolstering Georgia’s security and defense.” The statement said the markers of US-Georgian “friendship and cooperation” were “evident” in the 100 schools built in Georgia through the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

They are obvious in the hearts of the thousands of American and Georgian soldiers who trained and served together in NATO theaters. Americans and Georgians are built for a long-term partnership, and we look forward to the next decades of U.S.-Georgian cooperation,” the Embassy added in its statement on the date.

Earlier today, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani called the contribution of the United States to strengthening Georgia “invaluable” in comments marking the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Georgian FM: US contribution to strengthening Georgia “invaluable”

The contribution of the United States to strengthening Georgia is invaluable, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said on Thursday in comments marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Zalkaliani underlined the contributions of the US to developing Georgia’s defence capabilities, and economic sustainability in his remarks on the date.

Over the years, one of the main frameworks of our relationship has been established, namely the Charter of Strategic Partnership between the United States and Georgia, which covers the four main areas of our cooperation: defence and security, the economic dimension, the building of democratic institutions, and people-to-people relations. We have made really tangible progress in all four areas,” the top Georgian diplomat said.

Zalkaliani added Georgia, along with its key strategic partner country, had itself contributed to the fight against global security challenges, pointing out the country today “is the closest and most reliable ally of the United States in the region.”

Especially today, when there is such a serious challenge in the world, the role of the United States is invaluable. We think that the cooperation we have in the field of defence and security should be further developed,” Zalkaliani concluded.
