Serbs from KiM: “The only option left is to pack our belongings or defend ourselves”

As reported by the media, the last 72 hours are expected to be the most difficult for our country in the last 10 years, and the talks with the president lasted all night.

Due to the seriousness of the situation, the President of Serbia has canceled official trips, and on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., he will meet the ministers regarding the new events in Kosovo and Metohija at the Serbian Government meeting.

The Government session was called for Saturday after the latest tensions in the north of Kosovo and Metohija and the suspension of the regional commander of the Kosovo Police for the North, Nenad Djurić, by Pristina, as well as after Vučić’s talks with the Serbs there.

Serbs from Kosovo, in a conversation with President Aleksandar Vučić, said that all they had to do was pack their belongings onto tractors or defend themselves, the media reports.

Petković: “Kurti delivered a fatal blow to the Brussels Agreement”

As previously announced by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petković addressed the media in the Press Room of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

“We inform the public that by declaring that he is not interested in the formation of the CSM (Community of Serbian Municipalities), Kurti delivered a fatal blow to the Brussels Agreement and a blow to every other cooperation in the relations between Belgrade and Pristina,” said Petković.

“Because of all this, the reaction of the state of Serbia is expected, especially because of the brutal violation of rights and contracts. This behavior of Kurti is a drop in the bucket, this behavior of Pristina has crossed the red line,” said Petković.

“To such behavior of Albin Kurti, our people responded in a unified manner. They are very upset and because of this, President Vučić spoke for more than seven hours with several of our people and representatives of Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija. All of them are united and determined to defend the right to freedom of movement. Vučić told them that he understood them, but he also pointed out the consequences if the Brussels Agreement were to be dismantled,” said Petković.

“Our people have clearly said that they will do everything to fight to defend the right to exist in Kosovo and Metohija. Our people will resist in a democratic way….Vučić said that [neither a new] pogrom nor [a new Operation] Storm will happen again. Serbia will, in the end, win…”, said Petković.

Kurti replaced Djurić because he stood up for the Serbian people, explained Petković and stated that the Serbian people do not want license plates that are trying to be imposed on them.

When asked whether the Serbs will leave the institutions in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, he pointed out that their meeting is planned for tomorrow and that they will decide then.

Dacic: Territorial integrity sacred everywhere except in our case

Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said on Friday in Vienna Pristina’s most recent actions were aimed at humiliating

VIENNA – Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said on Friday in Vienna Pristina’s most recent actions were aimed at humiliating Kosovo-Metohija Serbs and at even denying all their rights, and added that this indicated Pristina did not want to comply with the Brussels Agreement.

Dacic, who was in Vienna for a conference on safety of journalists, also met with his Slovak counterpart to brief him on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and incidents there, as well as on a crisis that is threatening to escalate and Pristina’s violations of the Brussels Agreement and threats to peace.

“President (Aleksandar) Vucic has discussed that with representatives of the international community. We once again urge all to respect international law and agreements reached, especially those that have been signed,” Dacic told reporters.

He said Pristina’s most recent actions – including the dismissal of a regional police official in the north of Kosovo-Metohija – demonstrated that it did not want to implement the Brussels Agreement.

“We will discuss that tomorrow at a session of the state leadership. President Vucic will inform the government of everything and decisions on further steps will be made but, above all, he will hear what Kosovo-Metohija Serbs have to say about that,” Dacic said.

He said security breaches and drones flying over central Serbia, along with a lenient EU stance on incidents caused by Pristina, could only lead to further escalation in Kosovo-Metohija.

He said Pristina’s announced bid for EU membership was “yet another step that goes completely beyond all discussions and agreements.”

“It shows that, even though everyone is invoking territorial integrity in a principled manner as the holy scripture, that absolutely does not apply to Serbia,” Dacic noted.

Asked about a statement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen that a German-French proposal for the Kosovo issue would be made a part of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Dacic said that, too, would be discussed at a meeting between Vucic and EU special envoy Miroslav Lajcak on Friday evening.

“Serbia’s position is clear – the plan starts from foundations that are unacceptable,” Dacic said, noting that, under the plan, Serbia would just have to accept an independence of the so-called Kosovo, regardless of whether it wanted to or not.

That is not in line with international law and we want a return to the framework of international law, Dacic concluded.
