Azerbaijani military blocks Armenia-Karabakh road

The Azerbaijani armed forces blocked the Armenia-Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) road between the villages of Aghavno and Tegh overnight, the Karabakh police said in a statement on Thursday, March 30.

A new dirt road from Tegh to the village of Kornidzor in Armenia’s Syunik province is already ready, which in August will connect with the Kornidzor-Hin Shen road (Berdzor or Lachin Corridor”). Armenia is currently asphalting the Tegh-Kornidzor road.

…Said road is controlled by Russian peacekeeping troops.

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia – the Lachin Corridor – has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don’t have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
